Dale Evan Metz, Ph.D., is Professor of Communicative Disorders and Sciences and Director of the Speech Science Laboratory at the State University of New York at Geneseo. Physiological and acoustical investigations of speech of the deaf and stuttering have been his main areas of interest. He has produced a number of films of vocal fold action, including high-speed laryngeal photography through indirect laryngoscopy and real-time photography through a nasal fiberoptic endoscope. He is the author with Nicholas Schiavetti of the third, fourth, and fifth editions of the book, Evaluating Research in Communicative Disorders, and with Robert Owens and Adelaide Haas of the book, Introduction to Communication Disorders, both published by Allyn & Bacon.
