| Dale Evan Metz, Ph.D., is Professor of Communicative Disorders
and Sciences and Director of the Speech Science Laboratory at the State
University of New York at Geneseo. Physiological and acoustical investigations
of speech of the deaf and stuttering have been his main areas of interest.
He has produced a number of films of vocal fold action, including high-speed
laryngeal photography through indirect laryngoscopy and real-time photography
through a nasal fiberoptic endoscope. He is the author with Nicholas Schiavetti
of the third, fourth, and fifth editions of the book, Evaluating Research
in Communicative Disorders, and with Robert Owens and Adelaide Haas
of the book, Introduction to Communication Disorders, both published
